CNC Machining of Safety Clutch Assembly for the Power Tool Industry

Comprised of four parts - a spindle, locking hub, spindle driver, and retaining washer - Edward Köehn Co., Inc. produced 1500 of the clutch assembly shown here for a customer in the power tool industry. Utilizing cold rolled steel, we used a combination of Swiss and conventional CNC machining centers to mill, turn, drill, tap, bore, and thread the components while keeping tolerances to +0.00/-.003", machined to a 63 surface finish. Once completed, the clutch assembly features overall dimensions of 3.318" in length and 1 3/8" in diameter.

Having a computerized tracking system allowed us to synchronize production and ensure the parts were ready for shipping within a 6 week turnaround.
